Free · D&D 5e · Works alongside any VTT

Run vehicle combat and ship battles
the way your VTT can't.

VVTT is a virtual tabletop built for the chase and combat phase of vehicular encounters: infernal war machines tearing across Avernus, warships trading ballista fire off Saltmarsh, or anything you build yourself.

Two rulesets, built in

Descent into Avernus and Ghosts of Saltmarsh, out of the box

Every stat, weapon, and rule from both books is already loaded. Pick a vehicle, seat your crew, and start rolling initiative.

Infernal war machines

Descent into Avernus
  • Devil's Ride, Buzz Killer, Tormentor, Demon Grinder, Scavenger
  • Helm, weapon stations, and crew seats with the right actions at each
  • Armor upgrades and magical gadgets
  • Mishap table with automatic tracking of ongoing mishaps

Ships

Ghosts of Saltmarsh
  • Rowboat, keelboat, longship, sailing ship, warship, galley
  • Hull, helm, sails or oars, and each siege weapon track their own HP
  • Destroyed components have consequences: lose sails and your speed drops, lose the helm and you can't turn
  • Superior Ship Upgrades pack included

Not enough? The custom vehicle editor lets you build any land, sea, or air vehicle from scratch, or duplicate a built-in one and tweak it. Custom vehicles save to your library.

Features

Everything vehicle combat needs that initiative trackers skip

⌖

Tactical battlefield

Drag and rotate tokens scaled to real vehicle dimensions. Cover, firing arcs, elevation zones, and weapon range arcs are drawn for you.

◎

Target status

Select a target and see cover, arc, distance, whether it's in range, and for ships, every targetable component's AC and HP.

⚒

Component damage

Apply damage to a specific component or the hull. Repairs, destruction effects, and wrecks are handled by the rules.

☺

Crew & passengers

Seat creatures at stations or create them in place. Ships add a passengers zone and bulk deck-crew counts.

⚄

Click-to-roll dice

Every dice expression on screen is clickable: to-hit, weapon damage, effects. Results land in the combat log.

⇄

Encounters, custom vehicles, and party presets save to your account and follow you to any device.

Combat log export

Export the full log after the session for your recap or your campaign notes.

Ships & custom vehicles

Every component is its own target

Hull, helm, sails, oars, and each siege weapon carry their own AC and hit points. Knock out the sails and the enemy drifts. Wreck the helm and they can't come about. VVTT applies the book's destruction effects automatically.

The same editor builds your own vehicles from scratch, or duplicates a built-in one so you can tweak it. Everything saves to your library.

How it works

Three steps to your first chase

Add vehicles

Pick from the Avernus or Saltmarsh packs, or load one from your library. Set a side and drop it on the map.

Seat the crew

Put your party and NPCs at the helm, weapon stations, and passenger spots. Each seat shows the actions it allows.

Run the round

Move tokens, check target status, click to roll, apply damage. Open the player view on a second screen and go.

FAQ

Questions DMs ask

Is VVTT free?
Yes. Sign in with a Google account so your encounters, custom vehicles, and party presets sync to the cloud.
Which vehicles are included?
The Descent into Avernus infernal war machines (Devil's Ride, Buzz Killer, Tormentor, Demon Grinder, Scavenger) and the Ghosts of Saltmarsh ships (rowboat, keelboat, longship, sailing ship, warship, galley). You can also build your own in the editor.
Does it replace my main VTT?
No. VVTT runs the combat and chase phase of vehicular encounters, which most VTTs handle poorly. Use it alongside Roll20, Foundry, Owlbear Rodeo, or a physical table.
Can my players see the map?
Yes. Open the player view on a second screen or share the link. It shows the battlefield and tokens in real time without the DM controls.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. There's a mobile layout for running from a tablet at the table. The full battlefield is best on a laptop or larger screen.
Can I see the code?
Yes. The source is on GitHub. Issues and pull requests are welcome.
